Requirements of the Educators

  • Seek and receive principal approval via school division field trip procedures.
  • Verify that the outside activity provider meets division requirement for third party liability insurance.
  • The outside activity provider must be given a copy of the relevant Manitoba Physical Activity Safety in Schools activity safety page(s).
  • Verify that the outside activity provider can accommodate students with additional needs and/or medical conditions.
  • Prior to the activity, the following must be communicated to parents/guardians in writing:
    • Details of the activity
    • Risks associated with activity
    • Activity location
    • Means of transportation to be used
    • Student expectations and any precautions students may need to consider related to environmental factors
    • A consent form must be received giving the student permission to participate.
  • The risks associated with the activity and appropriate procedures to minimize the risks must be outlined to the students 
  • Teachers must provide supervision throughout the activity.  The level of supervision is identified in the relevant activity safety plan page.
